Welcome to SCD in Auckland & Northland

Scottish Country Dancing is a fun, lively and social form of dance that originated in Scotland. It involves groups of dancers performing a series of steps and formations to the rhythm of traditional Scottish music. This traditional art form has a rich history and is enjoyed by people of all ages as a way to celebrate Scottish culture and engage in community festivities.

The Auckland-Northland Region has many clubs and events for you to get involved in. No previous experience is needed, and you can come by yourself or with a partner and is a great way to keep fit and make new friends in our welcoming community.

Ranfurly Club dance is underway. Some dances before lunch and then lunch. Then more dancing and then afternoon tea. It's now lunch time. Prior to lunch The Duke of Atholls Reel and A Wisp of Thistle were on the programme.

Christmas Ceilidh - Dancing Fun for Everyone!!! When: Friday 24th November Time: 7.30pm - 9.30pm (ish) Location: St Davids in the Field - 202 Hillsborough Road, Hillsborough Cost: Entry is $5.00 pp or $10.00 a family, no eftpos is available so the correct money is muchly appreciated, thank-you in advance. Remember to bring extra change for a Raffle ticket too (Raffles are $1 each)! We will have lots of dancing, supper at 8.45pm & with St Andrews day coming up we are also doing a few Scottish treats and items. We have lots of Chrismassy fun in store with our amazing ceilidh band & fabulous dance callers. So put your Christmas on or your tartan & your dancing shoes & come along & join us this Friday! Would love to see you there!

Those who stayed the weekend on Waiheke saw four seasons (well almost). The sun came out on the return journey. If you are visiting our region over summer do check the ferry timetables for the many islands that can be visited. They can look truly magnificent.

Tomorrow is Waihekes dance. A reminder to allow time to get there in case the ferry is full. The weather might be a bit murky but the island is still busy. Some of us travelled a day early. Rangititoto as seen from the journey. And Waiheke when we got there.

Hibiscus Coast Club celebrate 10 years dancing in the Silverdale Hall. The Club president opened the evening. One of the dances on the programme was Frisky Ten Years (dancers are lined up for this dance). Musicians are Anne-Marie, Margie and Margaret.

Thank yous at the Kaiwaka Weekend School - at the ball and final day. Acknowledgment of the club members, club President, organisers, club members with specific roles, dance teachers, band, music class teacher and sound engineer, musicians for classes, shop keeper, St John's who looked after several kitchen duties.
